i have been working in Zambia for eight months now, of which the last three have been apart from my husband. he is labouring tirelessly to complete the refit of our old steel yacht so we can start our journey around the world.

our crew maintains a blog as a record of the progress with the renovations and eventually (hopefully soon) of our travels. these shots are from the most recent post and, for me, the most inspiring.

i have seven days left here before i return to the boat, the team and the best looking sailor i know!

i LOVE leather. i love everything about it. the way it looks, the way it feels, the way it ages so beautifully. i also love to make things from leather and when i saw this DIY post over at Design Sponge i did a little happy dance (in my head).

here are some more photos from my grandmother's stash. i have no idea who any of these ladies are, i assume they are friends and possibly family? 

i absolutely love the "tea party in the bush" at the top. looks like those girls are having a good time. when i see my grandmother again i will have to ask her about the stories behind each of these. till then i am making up my own...

this is such a cute idea. i'm not really in the kind of climate that encourages long sleeves but if i was i would attempt this. get the instructions from honestly wtf.
